Wang Nam Khiao district is located on a plateau on the mountain. This is Wang Nam Khiao in Prachinburi Province. If you cross the mountain via Khao Yai, it is called Wang Nam Khiao in Nakhon Ratchasima Province or Korat. Wang Nam Khiao is located at Khao Phaeng Ma and Wang Nam Khiao district in Prachinburi, two places. On the Wang Nam Khiao district side, there are hundreds of resorts with proper land titles. The accommodations are still open without interruption. On the other side at Khao Phaeng Ma, there have been land issues, so many places have stopped services.
Overall, Wang Nam Khiao on the Prachinburi side is still open for tourism as usual. I traveled to Wang Nam Khiao passing through Korat, going up Khao Pak Thong Chai, then you will see a left turn with signs for hundreds of Wang Nam Khiao accommodations. These places, if not in the winter season, mostly do not open on weekdays but open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, making it difficult to find accommodation in Wang Nam Khiao. The accommodations on the other side at Khao Phaeng Ma are all luxurious and quite expensive.
It is not suitable for traveling like Mr.Hotsia. The best time to visit Wang Nam Khiao is in the winter because everything is ready, flowers bloom beautifully, and the weather is cool and atmospheric. All accommodations are open. Normally, winter accommodation prices are twice as high as other seasons, costing 1,000-1,500 baht per room. In the low season, 500 baht is enough. There are inexpensive noodle shops in the Wang Nam Khiao market in the Wang Nam Khiao district.
There are also shops selling to tourists at slightly higher prices because of competition. Another option is to eat at the hotel. I ate spicy stir-fried sea fish opposite the market. The seller is from Paet Riu, and the price is quite high for tourists even in the low season, but it is delicious and worth the price. Today, Wang Nam Khiao has a PTT gas station, ATMs, and a 7-11 convenience store. Wang Nam Khiao has developed a lot in recent years.
No need to worry about refueling anymore at the top. There are many routes to Wang Nam Khiao: from Khao Yai, Prachin, and Korat. I will provide maps for traveling to Wang Nam Khiao and tourist maps. Most tourism here is about finding good accommodation with nice weather and views, then relaxing and absorbing the atmosphere all day and night. Nightlife is not emphasized.
During the day, drive towards Pak Chong to visit Pario Khao Yai and finish by eating steak at Chokchai Steakhouse. That’s the end of the trip.
