Chiang Mai Pha Wing Choo, Hod Town
http://www.hotsia.com > Chiang Mai > Pha Wing Choo, Hod District, Chiang Mai Province. Let's clarify the name first. Pha Wing Choo is a tourist spot in Hod District, Chiang Mai Province. Look at the picture above. It is a different place from the Pha Wing Choo reservoir in Lampang Province that was in the news, so don't get confused. It is also different from Pha Choo in Nan Province, where Pha Choo or Pha Joo means 'clashing cliffs'. The place I am taking you to today is 'Pha Wing Choo'.

To get to Pha Wing Choo, start from Hod and drive straight south towards old Hod District, heading to Doi Koeng. Notice a large red temple with a red standing Buddha on the right. Turn left in front of the temple, cross the Ping River, and continue a bit further until you reach a left fork. Follow the road for another kilometer, then there is a left turn to Pha Wing Choo. The sign is on the opposite side of the road, so you need to look carefully. Turn left here, go straight until you reach the Ping River, and you will arrive at Pha Wing Choo (see map below). Pha Wing Choo is a natural cliff that looks unusual, shaped like a horseshoe about
100 meters wide, located by the Ping River. It is likely formed by the erosion of the Ping River. The cliff is steep, almost 90 degrees. Be careful when visiting as falling could be fatal. Let me share a legend: at Pha Wing Choo, there is a statue of a man and woman riding a horse. It is said that a couple who loved each other rode their horse to this spot while being chased with no escape. They covered the horse's eyes and jumped off the cliff, which is why it is called Pha Wing Choo to this day. mr.Hotsia View Pha Wing Choo in a larger map
